Psssstt... I've got a secret to tell

  It's been a good, albeit very very wet weekend.  Saturday, I was lucky enough to mow my lawn, as it turned out that night the gates of heaven were opened and we've been under water for the last 2 days so far. Even at moments yesterday it seemed there were torrential downpours.  Cassidy watched out the window, a little bit awed by the water outside.

  I think she also wanted to play in it.  It's a spring rain though, too cold for her to go dancing in puddles.

  I also had fun teaching a friend how to make beer, and then we proceeded to drink beer and have a great evening with family.

   Unfortunately Sunday I woke up with a massive migraine.  I did manage to get some things done, but after that, Cassidy and I rested at home the rest of the day.  So all in all, a good weekend.

   Passing on His Secrets

  One of the most amazing things about God is how he chooses to operate.  It is so opposed to how we naturally think.

   When God chose a King for Israel, they chose Saul who was handsome, rugged, strong and in every way appealing to men.

   When he failed his kingship, God sent Samuel to bring a different man to be King.  He even operated under the same assumptions Israel had, fortunately God chose David, a simple fellow who was hiding from sight all along.  The last born, the weakest, the simplest....

  When Jesus came to earth, he was not a white guy with hot biceps and attractive beard.  He was a man of middle eastern descent.  Probably short average height for back then.  And he wasn't at all attractive.  This is what was written about him;

  Isaiah 53:2
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
    and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
    nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

  Can you imagine that?  The firstborn of creation was Undesirable!!  Crazy stuff.

  And God still operates this way today.  He frustrates mankind by operating in a way they least expect.  While religion looks to scholars, and the "Christian Fathers", and professors of theology, God is revealing his truths to those without the degrees, and without the respect that the world gives.

Matthew 11:25-26
25 At that season, answering, Jesus said, "I am acclaiming Thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for Thou hidest these things from the wise and intelligent and Thou dost reveal them to minors.26 Yea, Father, seeing that thus it became a delight in front of Thee.

1 Cor 1:18-31
18 For the word of the cross is stupidity, indeed, to those who are perishing, yet to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I shall be destroying the wisdom of the wise, and the understanding of the intelligent shall I be repudiating.
20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the discusser of this eon? Does not God make stupid the wisdom of this world?
21 For since, in fact, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom knew not God, God delights, through the stupidity of the heralding, to save those who are believing,
22 since, in fact, Jews signs are requesting, and Greeks wisdom are seeking,
23 yet we are heralding Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a snare, yet to the nations stupidity,
24 yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God,
25 for the stupidity of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For you are observing your calling, brethren, that there are not many wise according to the flesh; not many powerful, not many noble,
27 but the stupidity of the world God chooses, that He may be disgracing the wise, and the weakness of the world God chooses, that He may be disgracing the strong,
28 and the ignoble and the contemptible things of the world God chooses, and that which is not, that He should be discarding that which is,
29 so that no flesh at all should be boasting in God's sight.
30 Yet you, of Him, are in Christ Jesus, Who became to us wisdom from God, besides righteousness and holiness and deliverance,
31 that, according as it is written, He who is boasting, in the Lord let him be boasting.

  This is how God chooses to operate.  Why does he do it this way?  Because we are such vain and prideful creatures.  If we came to understanding on our own, it would be our own wills, our own wisdom and knowledge that we would glorify.  Instead, it is a gift from God given to the lowliest of people.  So God alone gets praise.

  It is easy to see how this works.  Go to any religious institution or speak to any "wise religious man" and just watch how high his nose turns into the air.  The pride and self righteousness inherent on coming to "wisdom" on one's own is just the natural law of humanity.  Thank  GOD  that he passes his secrets onto those who are in every way unworthy.

  And what secret is that?

It is this;

1 Timothy 4:10 ... we rely on the living God, Who is the Saviour of all mankind...

Glory to God!
